5 Things to Do When You Feel Blah
Every once in awhile, everyone catches a case of the blues. You think you look like a bag of trash, and you certainly feel like it, too. If you clicked on this article, you might be experiencing this as we speak.
Sometimes, there’s no discernible reason for it. Maybe it’s because you woke up way too late, you took a whiff of your armpits and it smells like a junior high football locker room, you’re just bored—whatever. Sometimes you can’t quite put your finger on it
Like you, we have also been down in the ditch, and we’ve found some things that really kick us into gear and help us feel better about ourselves. Try a few of these suggestions out next time you feel blah.
Take a shower.
This should be pretty obvious, especially if you’ve just woken up and you reek. Not only is it going to get you clean, but showers are also a good time to collect your thoughts.
Exercise.
It’s been scientifically proven to boost your mood, and it’s a great way to get the day going. And you really don’t even have to do that much—just a walk around the block can help. It’s not going to give you a rock-hard body, obviously, but getting your blood pumping and a little fresh air are still two things you could use.
Take care of that task you’ve been procrastinating on.
If the laundry bin is overflowing, the dishwasher needs to be emptied, you need to run to the post office, or your room is looking messy, get at least one of those things done. They might not seem like a big deal, but a nagging task can seriously stress you out. Sometimes a little productivity boost is all you need to pull yourself out of a funk.
Listen to uplifting music.
Every once in awhile you need your favorite musician to let you know that everything is going to be alright. We highly suggest making a “Positivity Playlist” for instances like this. You’ve probably already got a couple of songs and artists that could help you out with this. A happy playlist will not only put you in a good mood, but it’ll save you some time from scanning your phone for tunes to listen to as well.
Get lunch with a friend.
Venting to someone you’re close with is an awesome way to take a load off of your chest. That friend you’re thinking about has probably been exactly where you are right now also, so maybe they could give you additional advice. Plus, putting some grub in your belly is also known to brighten spirits.
After doing a few of these things, you should be feeling better. What are some of your favorite ways to fight the negative vibes?
