6 Must-Have Gadgets for Night Owls
There is a whole world of people out there who function best at night. Left to my own devices, with no other obligations, I tend to sleep from about 3 in the morning to 11. I get my best work done and feel fresher and more alive at night—nobody is awake to bother or distract me. There's something about moonlight that seems friendlier, somehow, than the harsh glare of the sun.
We don't necessarily need tools to help us live our nocturnal lives, but there are have been a few cool things to crop up here and there with us in mind. Let's look at a few must-have gadgets for night owls.
LED Eyeglass Clip-On Reading Light

This reading light clips on to your glasses, allowing you to read in the dark without disturbing anyone else. It can clip onto any style of eyeglasses, and it rotates 360 degrees. The downside here, of course, is that you look like somebody that's about to get murdered by Riddick. It seems to be made primarily for construction work, but reviewers have mentioned using it for late-night reading, and it seems to be great for that, as long as it'll clip to your style of frame.

Unfortunately, night owls sometimes have to wake up at a decent hour and join the rest of society. That's where Clocky comes in.
Clocky is an alarm clock that will sound an alarm and then let you snooze—once. After that, this little bastard will run away from you on its tiny wheels, so that you have to get out of bed and chase it down in order to shut it off. It also has an adorable little anime-esque face where the mouth shows the time. It doesn't get any better than that.

Sometimes you don't want help waking up; sometimes you want to sleep the hell right through the entire day. You want to create a wall between you and anyone else that wants to talk to you, from your friends and family, to the flipping sun itself. A good sleep mask isn't that expensive, and it will do the trick nicely.

If you're trying to avoid the harsh light of day, why would you turn around and recreate it indoors? Surround yourself with lighting you actually enjoy. Get a nice lamp. Something adjustable. Maybe go whole hog and get this crazy color-changing mood light. Take care of your surroundings, and they'll take care of you.

What's a late night without hours spent staring dead-eyed into your computer, trying to get work done and failing utterly? Get a giant gaming PC, so that when you finally admit to you're going to be a hopeless slacker tonight you can at least game in 4K with minimal difficulty. Maybe your modded-to-oblivion copy of Skyrim or Fallout 4, or whatever insanity Crytek comes out with next.

So there's a big upside here, which is that the glow of this now-classic keyboard looks really awesome in the dark. It's got tons of color options, and now you can get an Overwatch casing for it, because of course you can. It's got tons of programmable keys, too. The downside is that it's a mechanical keyboard, which means that anyone who has to share a living space with you who isn't nocturnal is more or less guaranteed to hate you after like two nights of clacking away with this bad boy.
